listen: lianne la havas - paper thin
One of the purest, most authentic voices in recent times, Lianne La Havas makes a statement every time she releases a song. Following on from her recent release ‘Bittersweet’, she played a live show at the Barbican with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and then followed with a next level Colors session.
Her latest track ‘Paper Thin’ offers a raw and honest insight in to her forthcoming album ‘Lianne La Havas’, due for release on 17th July 2020. A moving, sensual song, born of real experience and true expression.
“What plays a big role in the album is the idea of the life cycle of plants and nature—equating this journey with a seasonal thing that blooms, thrives, goes away, and comes back even stronger,” La Havas says. “A flower has to dry up and die in order to be reborn,” she says. “You have to get to the rock bottom to rebuild yourself.”
If you’re discovering Lianne for the first time, light a candle, run a bath and head back through her past albums with the lights down low. Artists like La Havas only ever come by once in a lifetime and we are blessed that it is during ours. Soak up her voice and tune in to each lyric. There really is no one quite like her.
