soul: a space to breathe meditation
Meditation can help to give us space and clarity when we need it the most. Whether it is time out from your day just to stop for five minutes or to reconnect with yourself, it takes very little time at all and can help you to easily stay focused and on track. Some of our best ideas, brainwaves and inspirations come during meditation because we have finally paused and listened to our own thoughts. With twice as many adults in Britain reporting symptoms of depression compared with this time last year, we decided that something had to be done.
‘A Space to Breathe Meditation’ is the first in a series of guided meditations that have been created for a:live, released at the beginning of every month and delivered direct to your inbox. Working alongside some of our favourite music producers and visual creatives we have taken things back to the beginning to lead you in to the world of meditation. Guided meditations mean that you get to listen to someone’s voice as they take you on a journey. So many people think that you have to stay still and silent and clear your mind of thoughts but much of the time it couldn’t be more different. It’s not always about getting your thoughts to stop, it’s about acknowledging that they’re there in the first place.
Each track will teach you how to reconnect with your breath and encourage you to find ever important space in your day. This first meditation guides you from the bustling city streets into a reflective and expansive awareness creating a much needed reset from an ever chaotic world. These tracks are here to normalise the sometimes-daunting world of meditation, opening it up to those of you who may be trying it for the first time or for others that are wanting to take their current practice to a deeper level of understanding. Collaborating with the next wave of creatives Carly Wilford started by writing the words, then sent the audio elements to London-based producer darker who composed the ambient soundscape before finally connecting with graphic artist Sanjana Nyapti in India to build the visual artwork.
It’s January and the start of a new year, it’s the perfect time to reset, to set goals and dedicate time and energy to connecting with something new. If you’d like to be part of our monthly meditation drop, just add your email address to our Subscribe section on the right hand column of this page.
